The Fairly OddParents Movie is an American 2D traditional hand-drawn animated adventure comedy film based on the Nickelodeon animated television series The Fairly OddParents. The film was directed, co-written, and produced by series creator Butch Hartman. It features the series' regular voice cast consisting of Tara Strong, Daran Norris, Susanne Blakeslee, Grey DeLisle, Carlos Alazraqui, Jason Marsden, Gary LeRoi Gray, Dee Bradley Baker, Kevin Michael Richardson. The movie was produced by Nickelodeon Movies, Nickelodeon Animation Studios and Frederator Studios, and distributed by Paramount Pictures, it was released in theaters on February 23rd, 2007. The events of the film takes place between the fourth and fifth seasons of The Fairly OddParents.

Plot[]

Summary[]

After being arrested for ruining both his parents' jobs with various elements from a violent television show called Maho Mushi and punished with no more television, Timmy has had enough of tolerating his torturing babysitter Vicky. He wishes for a magical remote that allows him to enter inside television shows, but the magic remote falls into he clutches of Vicky, who plans to enter the biographical channel featuring "Dictator Week", so she can become a world dictator. Timmy wishes for another magic remote and runs away into television with his fairies, soon meeting an older counterpart of himself who traveled back in time to warn him of Vicky's plans. Meanwhile, Timmy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Turner, having dismissed their son's concerns of Vicky, refuse to believe that Timmy is innocent and Vicky is evil, until that fateful day when they receive information proving otherwise from Vicky's younger sister, Tootie and save Dimmsdale from Vicky.

Cosmo, Jorgen Von Strangle, Anti-Cosmo, and Mr. Turner are voiced by Daran Norris. Wanda, Anti-Wanda and Mrs. Turner are voiced by Susanne Blakeslee. Grey DeLisle voices Timmy's babysitter, Vicky. Dionne Quan voices Trixie Tang. Jason Marsden and Gary Leroi Gray voice Timmy's friends, Chester McBadbat and A.J., respectively. Timmy's school teacher, Mr. Denzel Crocker, who has an obsession with proving that fairies are real, is voiced by Carlos Alazraqui.

Animation[]

The 2D hand-drawn animation for The Fairly OddParents Movie was done by Yeson Animation Studios in Seoul, South Korea. The animators used Toon Boom Harmony, the traditional animation studio software that can take character models and composite them into 2D. The animators worked semi-digitally; pencil-drawn poses would be composited into layouts in Adobe Photoshop. As with the television series, the storyboarding, character designs, background layout, general animation, and animatic parts of production, were done at Nickelodeon Animation Studios in America.

As with the television series, the film combines traditional animation and used computer-generated imagery (CGI), which handled by Nickelodeon Digital Animation Studios in Burbank, California.
